Damn Teens

I had fun drawing teens for that last comic, and was looking up dangerous teen fashions from the earlier part of the century. I think the Teddy Boys were my favorite.

Too bad I was a teen in the late 90s/early 00's and there was absolutely nothing remarkable about that time! Except regrets and frosted tips (same thing).

YES! As a teenaged girl, I would totally make out with all of them.

It only seems normal because it was so recent... it'll seem remarkable 30 years from now.

Yes, exactly. The hoodlum look of the late nineties/early 00's - the baggie jeans hanging around of the butt and the giant jerseys and the baseball caps for guys and the tight, tight dresses and everyone dying their hair on girls seemed pretty remarkable to someone of an older generation. As distinctive as anything from another time.

Meh, in 50 years they'll have romanticized hipsters out of all the gross trucker hats & distilled something weird out of them-- who can say what though.

OMFG these teens are all HOTTTT! I love how good you can make men look no matter what era their from! Though I would doubt the attractiveness of any frosted-tips-with-white-beach-necklace drawing, just based on the source material. :(

Cool pics! I have started to develop a full book about Teddy Boys back in 90-s. Still unfinished. Now I understand finally that it has to be drawn like this! Not like I used to do it. Hope it's not too late yet :)

I'm missing a 1920s cheerleader... someone with a letter sweater, a big fur coat, and pennant and unbuckled galoshes!

I'm sure there was something remarkable about the early 00s, we may not be far enough away from it to see it.

Ooooh, I love these!

I was a teen of the 00s, but thankfully I mostly didn't buy into fads, so I have been pretty safe. I feel I needed more 'dangerous teen fashions', really.

I looked up "Teddy Boy" on Wikipedia and began to read the description of girls' style Teddy clothing. "Teddy girls adopted a style similar to Teddy Boys; they wore items such as drape jackets, hobble skirts, long plaits, straw boater hats, cameo brooches, espadrilles and coolie hats."

Then I began to realize what each item looked like separately. Hobble skirts...espadrilles...COOLIE HATS...

The Teddy Girls were obviously far more stylish.

Go Teddy Boys!

I was a teen early/mid 90s, and, though my hair was glorious, the value-village-do-the-cobain look is a touch embarassing now...
