I can't lie to you, my readers. I do not know a heck of a lot about the superhero comic universe, but I love love love Lois Lane. Was it growing up in the 90's and watching Lois and Clark? Was it the old Fleischer cartoons? All I know is that Lois is tough as nails and doesn't take shit from nobody, she's the best! I get the impression that she was not always handled in the best way by the Comic Lords, like people made her too much of a pest and love-dumb over Superman or some unappealing shit (yes I have seen those "Superman's Girlfriend" comics). Gimme a break! This woman has more important things to do, like win all the Pulitzers. All I'm sayin' is that if Lois isn't super rad all the time then I don't even want to hear about it.

Speaking of, the idea for this comic came about because of my friend Dean Trippe, who had a wonderful idea for a Young Lois series that DC considered for some time but ultimately, and unfortunately, didn't work out. But I was really blown away by how great it was, and wanted to share it with you. Fortunately then, for us, I can!

Lois Lane, Girl Reporter: by Dean Trippe with art by Daniel Krall. Enjoy!

In other news, coming up at the end of April, I have another comics reading here in New York. Check it out!

And have some more Loises. They are fun to draw!

She should hang out with Wonder Woman. Seems like those two would hit it off! Or become mortal enemies. Either way, I'd love to see the comics.

Yeah, every second or third issue in the "Superman's Girlfriend" line they'd have her get amnesia or some potentially fatal delusion, and their answer every time was "Don't tell her she's wrong, she'll go completely mad!" so Superman had to run around saving her ass from situations. I don't know how she even kept her job with all the time she spent thinking she'd been raised by wolves or something.

edit: The great, but sadly defunct blog Comics Make No Sense has quite a few of Lois Lane's greatest dementias. Poor thing was the Marge Simpson of her era -- when they ran out of more interesting plots, well, time to make the dame go nutso!

Or 'Superdickery'. IIRC, one time Lois got uncontrollably fat and Supes had the entire city mock her for I don't even know anymore.

And on the general topic, one old comic I read had Seattle get heavily damaged by an earthquake. Some supergoons -stopped- helping people live because Seattle's resident supergoon had self-esteem problems. Yeah, old DC comics were messed up.

See I was just watching Superman II on TV, and I couldn't stop thinking about what a ninny Lois is in that movie. Like, I know a lot of journalists, and most of them have nearly died zero times. Lois nearly dies like seven times in the first ten minutes. Which I guess is what you mean about how badly she's portrayed.

Clearly you and Dean Trippe need to team up and take over DC and make it clear to everyone just how awesome Lois is.

I also loved the old Lois and Clark show, and while they hooked up, Lois didn't go for Superman, she went for Clark. The guy who'd go for coffee when they were working late on a story, not the guy who'd save crashing planes. Totally better date material.

This is probably the coolest portrayal of Lois Lane I have ever seen. I love how she's all "covering the triple homicide" LIKE A BOSS REPORTER.
