John Paul Keeps It Real Always

« previous entry | next entry »

It's a 'pope comic' but part of the 20 history comics too!

To be more correct though, John Paul credited Our Lady for saving his life that day.

Seriously, someone needs to pay you lots of money to do this full-time. If I wasn't buried under student debt, I might do it myself.

...how about some sort of print-on-demand set-up, where you design the book, but we could pay to get a proper printed copy of your compilation?

Hrmm? That would be win-win, methinks...

I wonder do you spend much time agonising over getting stuff right in your drawings? Like I particularly admire the way you draw facial expressions, do they take a while to get the way you want them or do they just come out? I really struggle with that stuff.

I spend like, no time on the drawings which is really sad because they are all pretty poor quality. They look like rough sketches of what should be comics.

The time I spend is done staring blankly at the wall because I have no ideas or reading up on things and then staring blankly at the wall again and after a while either an image or phrase pops in my head and I think 'comic!' and then I make it. It's a pretty lame process.

This may be my favorite Kate Beaton comic yet (though the Holiday Special entire runs a close second).

"A hater!" My Lord. That just about killed me.

I really do love the rough, honest energy of these comics. Add me to the pigpile of people calling on you to collect them in some sort of volume. This may have been addressed elsewhere, but: Have you considered making some sort of small DIY "test run" of 100 of these at the local copy shop and seeing how they sell from your site, or maybe trying Lulu.com? I know you on record as saying no one would buy them, but I'm guessing a low-risk test run would prove you wrong....

Kate, this comic is brilliant!

It is the best Action Comic I've seen a Pope appear in since Battle Pope.
