I love how people went straight for figures from the Heritage Minutes. I think we are on to something.

It turned out different than how I started it too. It was about time zones, then it was about beards. I am not in control of these things.

I have a friend up from the states who had never heard of Heritage Minutes, so we had to do a Heritage Minutes Film Festival for her. Threw in The Cat Came Back and the Logdriver's Waltz for some extra can-con goodness. That and Hinterland Who's Who. It was brill. I've now sent her to join your readerpack. She wants to immigrate.

The old dude who plays music at my campus bar plays Logdriver's Waltz. It makes us all so happy and we sing along loudly as the exchange students look on in bemused silence.

Oh man I was half expecting Sanford to start rubbing his beard on the other guy.

(The Cat Came Back is AWESOME. It used to be on Nickelodeon all the time when I was a kid. ...Minus the "OH FFFFU-")

I found your blog through Nedroid Picture Diary. Panel four is classic and will have to go into the rotation of catch phrases. Thanks for making the internet a funnier place.

And oh yes...

This comic is great! Sandford Fleming take $6 from me every term but I think this comic makes is all worth while.

For the people wanting to see the old Canadian cartoon shorts we grew up with, you can goto this site:
http://www.nfb.ca/animation/objanim/en/films/index.php

There's a lot there, including some directed by Trudeau it seems, but for quick reference:

John Weldon: Log Driver Waltz
Cordell Barker: The Cat Came Back

I actually found this site thanks to Ryan North.

Since I'm an ignorant Yank, I confess that I'd never heard of the Heritage Minutes before. It's fascinating for me to get the (official line) Canadian perspective of history. Laura Secord is not commemorated as a heroine in the US, for one thing, or remembered at all, for that matter. The War of 1812 is generally brushed over with general throat-clearing and insistence that Andrew Jackson would have won the war if it hadn't been for that damn peace treaty getting in the way.

I live near the sir Sandford Fleming park AKA the dingle which is a Tower, you would not believe how many people from Toronto think that its funny, due to dingle= penis for them. Lame. Here in Halifax that just what we called it. I have only good memories.

Great comic btw.
