Construction Love

I am guilty of complaining whenever I mention my job here and living where I do. Certainly, it is not the most desireable circumstances but that doesn't mean every day is an ordeal of some sort. Lindsay I have met some of the most honest and generous people here that we may ever come across when it's over, and wherever we go to next the simple, hardworking decency that some of the men carry themselves with may be hard to find, and I will miss that inspiration.

That said, I scribbled out a few comics of some short scenes, maybe you will appreciate them for giving a nicer picture.

Both Lindsay and I are in here, you will tell us apart because she is wearing glasses. I have a pair of glasses that I wear sometimes, then people call us twins, and though we look not identical at all it can be hard to tell the short brown haired girls from one another, I guess.

How absolutely great is this. It is the greatest thing ever.

A 'gob' is a mouth. A 'buss' is a sour face. Paul is always looking out for me, and everyone here thinks giving you food is just about the best thing anyone can do at a given time. I am often handed strange food items by men with big grins on, normally I don't want to eat whatever is is but the gesture is nice!

Photobucket

I don't even have the words to describe how much I love this man.
Photobucket

I cannot tell you how great it is when someone shops for you in earnest at the gas station. Also Howard is the sweetest man alive.

Photobucket

Seriously when they find something to make fun of you for it never never goes away.
Photobucket

hilarious
Photobucket

This happens quite often. Some people just call me 'Mabou.'

Photobucket

Newfie grandpas are the best, probably, I want as many as I can.

Photobucket

Contrary to how this is depicted, it is not creepy at all, they just have no idea it could be. Girls like candy right? Yup.

Photobucket

YEAH MAN KEITH IS MY COUSIN

Photobucket

This is another Paul, he is Acadian and so wonderful!  This made my heart leap!

Photobucket

EDIT

I forgot one but how could I, it's the best one!!!  It's there now.

Good stuff!
When I first found your journal, I went through your older comics, and was really shocked by one near the end about your work situation.
But I see its not all bad.

Those depict events from 2005-2006 when I first came here. It was a different job, though some of the same people were there as here and there were good folks around, but I was alone for the most part and it was a much more difficult situation and a worse place. I had little mercy for the oil sands when looking at it in retropsect a year later and making comics for a serious publication. This is not an easy place to put in a nutshell, there is too much to consider. Still I spent nearly all of 2007 in Victoria before saying I was ready to come back and finish what I started.

Buddy reminds me of late era, Las Vegas Elvis. Take off the mustache, slick back his hair and give him a wider belt and a microphone and you're pretty much there. Oh yes, and a cape. Vegas Elvis needs a cape.

I'm a new fan as of a couple days ago when I was linked to you by a friend, and was totally hooked by your hilaaaarious history comics; but these are also fantastic and in a whole 'nother way! I love this, keep it coming! :D This makes me want to make comics about my grandpa and other awesome people in my life, hee hee. OH GOD, my mother... I could make an entire arc of her. Probably several arcs.

Hi! Welcome, I'm glad you like them! Most of my comics have to do with my personal life and things I make up around that though I think - the archives on the website are broken but check back later and I'll have them all fixed up!
