Reaching for the Beaufort Sea

The search for the Northwest Passage is one of the great adventures of this county, though what drove men out there is something Stan Rogers understood and I do not. A lot of dudes had a hard on for the Passage, but the most notorious of these is probably John Franklin.

For an X-Files-ish take on the search for the northwest passage, I recommend you check out Dan Simmons' last book, "The Terror". Simmons' personal politics may be a bit unpleasant depending where you stand, politically, but he's a very readable writer, and the critics have been much more positive about this book than his previous few.

I love Dan Simmons, and I was unaware of this book. So I thank you.

Fwip=hilarity!

I can't help but get excited about our generation taking over the world. A world where I get my news from the Daily Show and my history from your comics.

Beaton, you are getting fancy with that uniform there! In a good way. A fancy way.

Dammit I can't believe my entire interaction with you consisted of caffeine-deprived muttering. Come back to America sometime in the afternoon so I can appear intelligent.

Man! Every time I read one of your comics I think to myself, "I know exactly what comment I will make!" but by the time I am able to comment someone else has invariably already made my comment, so now I can't say it because it'll look like I'm copying.

But screw it! FWIP is a great panel. If only Franklin FWIPPED to see Napoleon eating cookies, it would be maybe the best comic ever drawn by human hands.

"ice of glory" , that is fucking priceless!

ive just been sat here making the fwip noise while colouring some work, it seems to make time pass much quicker, plus every time you make the noise you remember where you got it from and that makes laborious tasks easier :)

cheers Katie
