I think you'll find it says "Luke" with a fancy L, rather than "Uke" without a fancy L.

It's not that dumb, that is what they did! There were no malls in 793 AD so vikings basically attacked monasteries to get their fill of shopping done. It was like going to Barnes and Nobel and the Pottery Barn AT THE SAME TIME. Only you get to burn it down when your done.

My favorite history teacher in high school used to saw that the Vikings loved monestaries, and especially nunneries, because it was like one-stop shopping. All your gold, jewels and women in one place wiht no one but passafists to defend them.

Maaaan, my medieval art prof would so dig this. His specialty is illuminated manuscripts, and he's always Lindisfarne this, Monkwearmouth-Jarrow that.

Hey there is an actual real-life actual exhibition of illuminated manuscripts at the state library in Melbourne right now. OMG! Let's all go and raid Australia!
http://www.slv.vic.gov.au/programs/exhibitions/kmg/2008/medieval_imagination/index.html

Also, as a resident of Melbourne I realise it's quite likely there are a few more manuscripts and old stuff in, you know, Europe and such. As you were.

I wasn't aware that the Viking Age started with a "schwing!" This opens my eyes in a whole new way.
