I have been alerted that I forgot to post this!

Back in the spring, [info]cablin and I went to see Michael Ondaatje read from his new book. The reading was wonderful, the question answer and interview periods were horrid.

I also uploaded a new Fort Mac comic, but placed it below with the last oil sands entry. It is about Frank, whom I love to pieces.

Dude I've been trying to figure out what it is that makes your comics work so good... like, the jokes are always funny, but also the pacing is really tight? And unique or something? Anyway hilarious as usual. I spent a whole evening reading your archives.

Hmm that is interesting - I am not immersed enough in the comics world to know whether or not they were unique. I suppose everyone's work depends on their influences. In my case, if you met my family - my aunts and uncles, say - you would recognize the sense of humour immediately but also note that anything I have ever passed off as witty pales in comparison. Presentation wise, you got me. We had no art class, no comic books, two tv channels and were at least an hour and a half away from the nearest anything growing up. Boring? Quite. So I read and drew constantly. I have boxes of drawings stuffed in my room at home that develop I guess into what I make now? Nobody is allowed to look at them because they are god awful. Of course, what I draw now are still unpolished, anatomical nightmares so go figure.

hmm that made it sounds as though I developed a style entirely on my own accord which isn't true. Also damn! I need to not be so garrulous.

Hi - a bud sent me a link to your comics, from whence I found your lj, which made me especially happy because I want to tell you that I think the final panel is possibly the greatest thing ever.

The Laura Secord strip was a close second. Thanks for sharing, it really made my night.

Going back through your archives of awesome comics is nerdy enough, but I have yet another piece of adulation to share! I have made an icon out of the last panel of this comic, because it is sheer awesomeness. Your comics fill me with all kinds of glee, and it is entirely possible that I shall make more icons of them and spread the glorious word. Of course, most of my friends are Canadian like you and I, so they'll be in it for the heritage moment types, but hey! Publicity!
