Poor Yeats. He even wrote, as a poet for the country I guess, a half-arsed eulogy for Major John MacBride when that fellow went and got hisself killed in the Easter Rising.

oh yes oh yes I must make a comic of the Easter Rising (James Connolly, be still my heart)

Oh and yes I have been home in Nova Scotia at a family reunion or the past couple weeks, I am so hungover and tired my body is not going to forgive me for months and months and months.

If you do a comic about the Rising, will you do one about the fact that they dug trenches in Stephen's Green? Because apparently that's what you do when you're at war: you dig trenches. Even if you're in a city park, surrounded by tall buildings. Yup.

Oh! Oh! And one of the major bases for the rebels was a biscuit factory. A biscuit factory. ...at least the troops were fed? On biscuits, but still.

Sometimes, it amazes me that Ireland ever became a sovereign nation.

Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.

(...wow.)

Oh poor Yeats, what foul treachery blackened your artist's soul? Oh right, that bitch Maude!

This just made my night. Thank you!
I love how you can watch his heart break in the third panel.
I love your facial expressions.
Erm, the ones you draw.
Although I suppose yours are probably okay as well.

Awww, well Ms. Beaton luckily you have many hundred man-servants to take care of all you chorres and make sure your body is taken care of.

Obviously, I'm not Yeats, I couldn't think of a way to say that didn't vaguely sound sexual, which i DO NOT mean it to sound as. Seriously, my intention was nothing of the sort.

I love this, yeats was such a silly crazy man. I never got to use all the insane trivia my english teacher told us about him in the exam though, pity as that always seemed to stick better than the poetry dissection bits.

Hahaha, poor Yeats! He was a hundred years too early for the revenge of the nerds. I also like this biography quote I found on Wikipedia: "when he duly asked Maud to marry him, and was duly refused, his thoughts shifted with surprising speed to her daughter."

It is great to have Kate Beaton comics again! Please get as wasted as you choose, so like Yeats, you can temper your art through suffering. No wait that's rude

Hot Damn your comics RAWK!

Love the facial expressions! Just priceless!

You really have a knack for being able to illustrate 'pregnant pauses', and background schenanegans are just too funny!

These two and the one with Nikoli Tesla are certainly among my favorites :D

Keep on rockin!
