OH CATHERINE

I cannot stop watching this today, every now and then I go back to it with the same delight it gave me when I first saw it. Genius, genius!

Hello to all the new folks from the Spotlight, I don't know who is in charge of livejournal but tell them the glare is hard on the eyes and makes it difficult to sleep, this must be what it is like to live next to a casino in Vegas.

Oh man, that's like one of my favorite Monty Python skits. XD It got even better when we had to read the book for English class in high school.

This makes me sad that I don't know semaphore/morse code/lamp because I bet that the subtitles do match up, because Monty Python was that kind of brilliant. D:

This coupled with the Ukulele Orchestra's cover makes me happy that I shall never have to read Wuthering Heights, ever.

Actually, it strikes me as more python-esque for the codes to spell out something utterly nonsensical or dirty. Or if they spelled out jokes from an earlier sketch in the episode! Oooh.

I've been using this particular bit to win over Python skeptics for years now. It fills me with a joy that travels to yea even the MARROW of my bones.

Also, it's still the only version of Wuthering Heights I've actually managed to get through.

Oh my god why have I never seen that before I nearly died laughing! Thank you, Kate Beaton. This is the new best thing.

I wish I had thought of this when we had to do a skit of Wuthering Heights in english class in high school. Instead, we did it as one of those scandelous daytime television live-studio-audience shows.

I had to play both Heathcliff and Edgar Linton. I punched myself in the face to get me to marry Catherine.

The spotlight is actually what reminded me to friend you, but I had actually been commanded to do so by [info]audrawilliams and [info]littlegirltoast who pretty much told me it was the law to think your comics were awesome. So far they're right.

I took a course on English literature film adaptations. My class unanimously voted this sketch to be the best adaptation of the book.

Hi, I am a huge nerd!

The accuracy of the semaphore varies with the character. Catherine's is a little sloppy, and they cut a lot of it short (presumably for timing). They're generally pretty good, though, and get a lot of the letters right.

I didn't bother decoding the Morse code. It's probably right.

The clip was amazing, but on a side note;

I saw an article about charles babbage in the paper today and all I could think about was, "Charles Babbage, he hated musicians."

heeeeeeeheehee, so much Python love.

whenever I am watching Monty Python I kind of wonder what people must have thought seeing it on TV for the first time. I can only come up with half the audience laughing hysterically and the other half with a o_O look on their faces.

(enjoy the spotlight! :D)
