I Made A Little Comic About Dimes

« previous entry | next entry »
Oct. 20th, 2008 | 10:44 pm

I made this comic as an excuse to draw the Bluenose. If you didn't know the racing schooner Bluenose is on the Canadian dime, now you do!

If this comic was too Canadian for you even though other dimes are smaller than pennies, here is an American to soothe you.

Now here is some more Bluenose magic care of Stan Rogers

Dimes? Pennies? Are these forms of currency? I do not understand this because I am poor.

One of my theories about why Canada is so much more awesome the the US is that you guys get awesome things like boats and animals on your money. All we have are dead guys and other then Alexander Hamilton none of them are even hot. What gives US currency?

I was singing Stan Rogers' Bluenose walking down the street the other day.

I was unaware that there was someone walking maybe ten paces behnd me for a good four blocks.

I... I hope they google the lyrics and find this. IT WILL MAKE SO MUCH SENSE TO THEM.

My husband and I know someone (American) who loves oceans/schooners/lighthouses, so when we heard she was ill, we bought her a nice plaque with the Bluenose on it. I wrote a little history in a card and everything. She loved it. She passed away last weekend. :(

I never bothered to look for the history behind the dime. The quarter has a moose simply because it's an animal associated with Canada, right? It's not something famous, like an Elmer the Moose?

Man i do NOT understand the pictures on our currency. "Welcome to Canada! BOY I HOPE YOU LIKE WILDLIFE. HERE CHECK IT OUT. this one's got a picture of a LOON. You are never going to guess what we call it....A LOONIE!!.... wait, come back...."

instead i would like to see on our currency, the old man from that canadian hertiage moment who said "But I need these baskets back."
